Durga Ashtami: CM Yogi offers prayers at Devi patan Mandir, devotees throng temples across India
On the auspicious occasion of Durga Ashtami, thousands of devotees gathered early in the morning at temples across the country to offer prayers to Goddess Durga. One of the main centers of devotion was Devipatan Mandir, one of the 51 Shakti Peeths, considered a powerful symbol of divine love between Lord Shiva and Goddess Sati.Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath visited the Devipatan temple early in the morning, offering prayers and performing gau seva (cow service) as part of the rituals. The temple saw a massive influx of devotees, all arriving with deep faith and reverence for Maa Mahagauri, the form of Durga worshipped on the eighth day of Navratri.Similar scenes were witnessed across the country—in Delhi, Ayodhya, and Prayagraj, devotees thronged prominent Durga temples and Shakti Peeths since dawn. Live visuals from Vaishno Devi temple in Katra showed huge crowds as pilgrims gathered to seek blessings during this spiritually significant time.Navratri, especially Ashtami, holds deep cultural and religious significance, with households also performing Kanya Pujan at home. The atmosphere across temple towns was one of devotion, festivity, and spiritual energy.
