Punjab Kings-RR match: Dhanas-Mullanpur road closed to public
The PR4 link road – connecting the Dhanas light point to the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh Punjab Cricket Association International Cricket Stadium — will be open only for VVIPs, players and officials during the IPL match between Punjab Kings and Rajasthan Royals at Mullanpur on April 5.

According to the traffic plan, spectators will be allowed to take the New Chandigarh-Kurali highway to reach the paid parking lots — No. 4-5 and 6 — near the stadium. Learning from last year’s traffic chaos during the IPL matches, the authorities have decided to restrict the use of the newly constructed PR4 link road. It is expected to be opened after the match.
“The actual situation will be clear during the match tomorrow. The plan for future matches will be made accordingly. Besides parking lots reserved for VVIPs, three sections have been set up for the general public. All these three lots have an open access through the New Chandigarh-Kurali- Baddi highway. It will be easy for spectators to park their vehicles there and proceed to the match venue,” said a police official.
Police personnel from other districts of Punjab will also be deployed for the match.
Last year, visitors had a tough driving through narrow roads of nearby villages in the absence of proper signage. “We are well prepared this time. The police personnel to be deployed at junctions have been informed about the route. Besides, route info boards have been put up a few kilometres before the stadium. The traffic will be guided to the highway via Chandigarh, which will be a big relief. I will suggest the public to reach the stadium well before time,” added another police officer.
Meanwhile, people kept standing on the flyover near the stadium to watch their favourite players practice ahead of the tomorrow’s match. “I was going to Chandigarh when I saw many people standing right in the middle of the flyover. When I stopped by to check, I saw they were making videos of players practising at the nets,” said Anup Mittal, a local resident.
Like last season, a musical show by famous singer Jasmine Sandlas will be held tomorrow.
