Muslim youth threatens to get policeman suspended? Scripted video viral

A 24 second video is currently viral on social media with the caption “Salim threatened the police”. In the video, a man wearing a cap generally worn by Muslims threatens a policeman of getting him suspended in two hours, after which the policeman is seen responding by throwing the Muslim man out of the room. Many users and Hindu Right-wing users shared the video claiming it to be a real incident while targeting Muslims for their ‘mentality’.

Verified X user ‘Hindu UP 36’ shared the video and wrote, “Look at their mentality. This Muslim man talks to a policeman like this, he should be arrested.” (Archived link).

Another verified X handle, ‘The Voice‘ promoted the video with the same claim. (Archived link)

Instagram user Abhishek Gupta also amplified the video and accompanying claim.

Fact Check

Alt News performed a reverse image search using frames taken from the viral video. We found the source video uploaded on a verified Instagram page named ‘Monty Deepak Sharma‘ on March 17, 2025 with the caption ‘Salim ki harkat‘ (What Salim did). (Archived link)

We also clicked on a link provided on the Instagram profile of ‘Monty Deepak Sharma’, which led us to the user’s YouTube channel. It has more than 20 lakh subscribers. Through another link mentioned here, we found the associated Facebook page. Here, the bio describes Monty as a video creator and artist.

Furthermore, during the investigation, we also came across a viral video posted on March 17, 2025 with the title “Police wale ko dhamki‘ (Threatening a policeman). However, unlike the viral video, the YouTube video does not mention any other information.

Alt News examined each of the social media pages of Monty Deepak Sharma, and we noticed the man seen in the viral footage acting in several other videos as well.

In this clip, a disclaimer appears at the 0:11 mark and at the 4:55 mark, the actors state that this video was made for entertainment and this was only a fictional scenario.

To sum up, Alt News investigation found that the viral video of the ‘Muslim man’ threatening to get a policeman suspended is not a real incident, but taken from a scripted video made for entertainment purposes.
